[CARTER - states primary purpose of trip is just and lasting peace in Mideast.] Carters to stay at royal guest house; King's honor guard noted as riding in Impala convertibles during motorcade. Riches in palace described; reception room compared in size to football field for Ohio State-Michigan game. Importance of Saudi Arabia to United States because of oil and money noted.

Comments of United States official on flight from New Delhi, with regard to US position on Palestinian homeland, reports of Saudi cabinet objections to this and cancellation of briefing by Press Secretary Jody Powell and release of joint US-Saudi communique tonight outlined.

[FAHD - doesn't believe any Arab country has right to tell Palestinians what kind of government or association with other cntrys. they should have; believes Palestinians should decide for selves.] Fahd's comments with regard to oil prices for next few years cited.
